Decommissioning, an international meeting on Regulation in Berlin

Two days of work on decommissioning of nuclear installations: the workshop organized by WENRA, the association of authorities responsible for Europe's nuclear safety, opened today in the german capital, in collaboration with the BMU, the German federal agency for nuclear safety.

The meeting is attended by 75 representatives from 20 countries including, for Italy, ISIN.

The Inspectorate acts as chairman of the specific Session on decommissioning strategies, presenting the process for issuing instructions and controls carried out during decommissioning operations.

During the meeting, in addition to the presentation of the experiences of the various countries on the decommissioning of nuclear installations, various aspects concerning decommissioning are discussed: strategy and planning of activities, harmonization between different authorization processes, planning of the transition period between operation and decommissioning, final state for the decommissioning of nuclear installations.
