ISIN delegation visiting the Mühleberg nuclear power plant in decommissioning

An ISIN delegation today visited the swiss Mühleberg nuclear power plant in decommissioning. The visit took place on the sidelines of the meeting with the Swiss Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ENSI.
The ISIN delegation, accompanied by ENSI colleagues, was able to hear a report from the operators of the plant on the state of decommissioning started in 2020 and destined to end in 2031.
This was followed by a visit to the plant during which the ISIN delegation was able to ascertain at what stage the dismantling of the various parts of the plant is and which techniques are used for decontamination and storage of materials.
The visit was of particular interest to the Inspectorate, as it allowed an "on-site" discussion on the choices, methods and times for decommissioning the plants.
