The Finnish Authority STUK has issued an update regarding yesterday's event at the Finnish Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant: the cooling water treatment system of the nuclear reactor, the breakdown of which had caused radioactivity levels in the primary steam pipe, has been repaired. The "Alert" condition, declared after the event, ceased this morning at 2:50 UTC (at 3:50, Italian time).
All safety systems have always remained correctly functioning and the reactor is moving from a "hot" shutdown to a "cold" shutdown (reactor cooling system at atmospheric pressure and at a temperature below 200 ° C) , which is expected to be reached by today's morning.
The operator is planning the operations for restarting the reactor.
It is confirmed that there was no release of radioactivity into the environment and that no operator was exposed during the event.
