Despite the global health emergency from COVID-19, the activities of the National Inspectorate for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection continue.

In compliance with the indications provided by the Prime Minister of these weeks to counter the spread of the virus, ISIN experts are still working to ensure the performance of their nuclear safety and radiation protection functions.

The monitoring of nuclear installations and activities authorized to use radiation sources does not stop, even if remotely, thanks to constant contact with operators.

The preliminary investigations related to the authorization processes, technical assessments relating to nuclear installations no longer in operation and decommissioned, research reactors, plants and activities related to the management of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel are also continuing.

ISIN, the contact point and national competent authority in the field of Community systems and international conventions for prompt notification in the event of a nuclear accident or radiological emergency, also continues to guarantee its presence in the field of automatic monitoring systems of the environmental radioactivity which, on a national scale, operate for the purpose of early warning.
