Fire protection in nuclear installations, an online seminar to present the results of the work conducted by the countries participating in TPR II

The second cycle of the Topical Peer Review (TPR II) is in its final phase: the entire process, with its results, will be illustrated during an information seminar, the Second Stakeholder Meeting, that the European Commission has organized for March 27th.

The Topical Peer Review process, coordinated by ENSREG, was born in 2014, when the Council of the European Union adopted Directive 2014/87/EURATOM (amending the 2009 Nuclear Safety Directive) to incorporate the lessons learned following the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in 2011.

TPR I had as its theme the management of the aging of nuclear power plants and research reactors; TPR II instead requires each participating country to carry out a self-assessment of its approach to fire protection of nuclear installations, preparing a national report to be reviewed by the other countries and identifying any good practices and improvements to be implemented.

The Activity Report (Summary Report) as well as the individual national reports (Country Review Reports) will be made public through publication on the ENSREG website (https://www.ensreg.eu/).

ISIN, fully involved in the process, collaborated by covering the role of Vice Presidency of the Board, edited the national report on the basis of the assessments carried out by the operators according to the technical specifications prepared. It also participated with its own experts in the various phases of the peer review, consisting of the review of the national reports, and two final workshops, as well as in the preparation of the final reports.

During the seminar on March 27, the TPR II Board will present the results of the entire review process, with the identification of good practices and areas for improvement, both generic and specific.
The event, open to all interested parties, will be held remotely and it will be possible to participate by registering by 2:00 p.m. on March 26th, at the following link:
