Exchange of information on radioactive waste management and future perspectives: ISIN visits the Spanish Consejo de Seguridad Nuclear
An ISIN delegation, led by Director Francesco Campanella, is currently visiting the CSN (Consejo de Seguridad Nuclear). This visit represents a significant opportunity for the two nuclear safety authorities to discuss their respective radioactive waste management programs and to strengthen and renew their mutual cooperation, ahead of the imminent signing of their first bilateral agreement.
The discussions covered several pivotal areas: results achieved and current activity scheduling, emerging perspectives and ensuring continuous nuclear safety and investing in specialized expertise.
Director Campanella highlighted the Inspectorate's commitment to increasing the public value of the regulatory authority and fostering a systemic cultural strengthening regarding these highly sensitive issues.
These objectives were echoed by the President of the CSN, Juan Carlos Lentijo, who emphasized the importance of collaborating across multiple fronts. Specifically, he noted that communication is indispensable for conveying accurate and transparent information to the public.
