ISIN among the participants at the 4th meeting of the International Nuclear Safety Policy Advisors Group (INSPAG)

An important opportunity to exchange experiences and expertise on international cooperation strategies: the 4th meeting of INSPAG, a group composed of managers, consultants, and specialists in international activities from nuclear regulatory authorities, concluded on May 13th in Switzerland.
Initiated by ENSI, the Swiss regulatory authority, INSPAG aims to strengthen international cooperation through the development of best practices and methodologies, the improvement of international cooperation processes and mutual learning on common approaches and challenges.
Currently, 16 countries (Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States, Sweden, Switzerland, and South Africa) are members; ISIN represents Italy.
The discussion among participants highlighted how international engagement among regulatory bodies is taking on an increasingly strategic role in the current geopolitical and regulatory environment, characterized by increasing dynamism and complexity.
INSPAG will meet again in the fall of 2026. Work will continue along two lines: drafting a document on best practices in international cooperation on nuclear regulation and developing a common methodology for evaluating the performance of international nuclear regulatory activities.
