Successful CTBTO inspection, ISIN laboratories at the new facility are officially operational

The periodic inspection conducted by experts from the PTS (Provisional Technical Secretariat), the body that constitutes the technical secretariat of the CTBTO (Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization), the international organization that oversees compliance with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, has concluded successfully.
The inspection, which is part of the global and periodic monitoring protocols established by the Treaty, had the primary objective of verifying, on the ground, the technical consistency of all analytical operations and the logistical and structural suitability of the new premises at the Italian facility.
The PTS technicians analyzed in detail the procedures, equipment, and safety standards of the new facility, verifying that the Italian laboratory fully complies with the stringent international criteria required to be part of the global monitoring network.
With the formal approval and favorable technical opinion from the CTBTO secretariat inspectors, the ISIN laboratories are now officially and fully operational in their new configuration, consolidating Italy's leading role in environmental monitoring and the fight against nuclear proliferation worldwide.
The Director of the Inspectorate, Francesco Campanella, expressed his satisfaction and thanks to the staff whose work enabled the achievement of this goal and reaffirmed to the CTBTO inspectors his full commitment to promoting ever-wider appreciation of the activities carried out in the Inspectorate's radiometric and investigation laboratories.
