Air, water, soil and food, radioactivity under control

Approximately 41,200 pieces of data were collected in 2021 (+17% compared to the previous year), of which 27,300 in 10,500 environmental samples and approximately 13,900 in 4,500 food samples. From the measurements it emerges that the concentrations have no relevance from a radiological point of view and do not constitute any risk to health or the environment. This is also confirmed by automatic environmental radioactivity monitoring networks capable of detecting, in real time, anomalous increases in radioactivity.

Although the results of radiometric measurements have been substantially stationary in recent years, there remains a need for an efficient, reliable and transparent radioprotection system to protect workers, the population and the environment also to deal with possible emergency situations, which could arise from cross-border nuclear accidents or unfortunate events such as the current Ukrainian crisis.
