ISIN, the first REMRAD station with very high sensitivity has been started

The first REMRAD station with very high sensitivity was installed and started up, in the test phase.
The station, hosted by the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics of Sgonico (Trieste), represents a significant evolution of the ISIN automatic network for monitoring environmental radioactivity and one of the most prominent elements of the national alert and activation system of the National plan for the management of radiological and nuclear emergencies.
The atmospheric particulate sampling systems and the radiometric instrumentation allow, in addition to performing the task of providing timely alerts in the event of a nuclear accident, to also report the presence of very small quantities of radioactivity in the air, even only at the level of traces, the latter aspect significant for the purposes of correct and timely information.
The project, launched over two years ago by ISIN, saw the precious contribution of the skills of the Technologies and Plants Division of Infocamere.
