"The surveillance of environmental radioactivity in Italy", the 2022 edition is online

ISIN publishes the Report "The surveillance of environmental radioactivity in Italy", a summary of the radiometric surveys carried out in 2020 by the National Network of Surveillance of Environmental Radioactivity - RESORAD, set up by the Regional Agencies and Autonomous Provinces for the Protection of the Environment (ARPA/APPA ) and by the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institutes.

The ISIN document reports the concentration values of the main artificial radionuclides, in particular cesium - 137, the radionuclide leading to contamination in the environment, whose level of radioactivity halves approximately every 30 years, deriving from nuclear activities and the fallout from atomic experiments conducted in the atmosphere after the war and since the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
