Surface disposal of radioactive waste, ISIN at the IAEA Forum

In progress, the annual meeting of the Forum dedicated to the development of guidelines and the exchange of experiences and good practices on localization, design, implementation and operation of the surface engineering depots for the disposal of radioactive waste, such as the National Repository provided for in Italy by current legislation.

The Forum, organized by the IAEA and which will end on 23 September, aims to develop a technical document on the regulatory aspects, with particular reference to the development of the safety analysis of this type of installation.

The Inspectorate participates in the Forum with a speech dedicated to the description of the national strategy on the management of radioactive waste and spent fuel, the reference legislative and regulatory framework, the procedure for locating the National Repository, pursuant to Legislative Decree 31 / 2010, and the contents of the Technical Guide no. 32 “Safety and radiation protection criteria for engineering plants for the surface disposal of radioactive waste”.
